And, while I'm at it (it's Thursday night, my Friday, and I have to work out my frustration of spending the afternoon wasted at the car dealer), here's another new series. This one deals with songs that have take or a variation in the title. Here's the first song on the list....a song I've been dying to use in a countdown.
#10: Take the Skinheads Bowling - Camper Van Beethoven
Absolute CLASSIC. Yes, this song is nonsensical. No, this is not a prime example of good singing. So what?
The band that gave us the song "ZZ Top Goes to Egypt," California's Camper Van Beethoven, is just plain quirky. And that is not a bad thing in the least. "Quirky" is about all I can come up with to describe them. They did a perfectly straight cover of Status Quo's "Pictures of Matchstick Men," then did a song called "Lassie Goes to the Moon."
This is probably their best-known song (yes, even better than the "big hit cover"), a song about....wait for it....going bowling with skinheads. Actually, it's not about that: as the song says about a dream, it was about nothing.
But dang, is it a fun song.

That is bad singing? Sounds like Whitney Houston to me, compared to the singers I listen to. I love bad singing.
