President John Adams and The White House
I thought you might like to know a few facts about the White House.
George Washington never lived in the White House.
John Adams was U.S. President when the White House was completed, and the first president to live in the White House.
He was supposed to move into the White House in June, in the year 1800, but the White House was still under construction, so he actually lived at Georgetown Tavern until November 1, 1800.
And then in 1812, British soldiers burned that White House to the ground and it had to be rebuilt.
President James Monroe then, moved into the White House in 1817.
President Theodore Roosevelt added the West Wing in 1902.
The White House has 132 rooms, FIVE full-time chefs, a tennis court, a bowling alley, a movie theater, a putting green and a swimming pool.
Just a few facts!
What else do you know about the White House?

I've been to Washington D.C. but I didn't go inside the White House. I went inside the Washington Monument, all the way to the top and I have photos of my children in front of the Lincoln Monument. My family visited there many years ago. .Living in Virginia, it's not that far away, but I have no desire to return.

It doesn't surprise me that there are that many full time chefs
