They were talking about mega earthquakes.

Many times when I go to bed, I turn on the TV. And as many times I discover I am not particularly interested in something I have already watched. Today I started to mylot while the TV was in the National Geographic chnnel and nobody was watching. And suddenly, I heard the word mega earthquake followed by the word Chile. I stopped my writing. And I started to watch how the US people in charge of earthquakes there and how to build in some areas, came to study our earthquakes. And that, because in Chile we have had many mega earthquakes. I saw chilean buildings that fell. But still, it seems that we build a lot better than in the US. I find beautiful those big, open spaces in buildings in the US. But we cannot have them. The swaying of the buildings of 10 to 20 stories high during a giant earthquake makes it impossible. Our buildings, in general, don´t collapse but are not as beautiful. One thing for the other.

Well, in fact we do have them. That´s why I am very scared of quakes. And I have my bedroom in the first floor of my two story house.

@Courtlynn There are smaller quakes here all the time. Bigger ones are only from time to time in my city.

When I was in Berriozar and five floors up the whole lot danced around and shook and so did the television as well as the Parrot screaming as well. Most amazing thing is that no one got scared or even batted an eyelid. I can bet yours are much more powerful. In Navarra the buildings are made more or less most of them to those kind of standards as we are on an active fault line.

We have most of the worst earthquakes in my country. Buildings are built with special standards but still there are big problems sometimes.

@marguicha In Navarra there have been three earthquakes of 4.5, 3.7 and one a bit smaller. That was this year so its not too bad a fault line really it could be much worse like in your case in Chile.

We had earthquakes where I grew up. They can be pretty scary.

I would prefer my bedroom on the first floor too.

My husband built this house for me and one of the most important things to do was to build it safe against earthquakes.

I'd rather live in a safe building rather than a pretty one!
