A Fidget Spinner Really?

Yesterday I saw one lying on our dining table and after inquiring as to whom it belongs to, found out one of my grandsons bought it.
I teasingly chided him (Joshua) if all those video games and girl-watching (He's at that age) wasn't enough to keep him occupied after school hours that he needed another form of distraction or time-waster.
"It's a great stress-reliever" Joshua casually replied.
Really!?
A fifteen year old who doesn't have to worry about board and lodging, provided with free education, have someone to come in to clean and tidy up his room and do his dirty laundry get's STRESS???
I could have fallen off my chair if I happened to be sitting when I heard his reply. I'm still laughing inside thinking of what he said as I write this post. Needless to say I spoil my grandchildren rotten. But thankfully they're growing up well-behave and responsible.
Now that I think of it...was that a sly grin Joshua had when he said it? Like me he has a wry sense of humor. What do you think?

I haven't tried using it but my son recently mentioned it while we were at the mall. I will most likely check it out later to see what the fuss is all about with that.

@sublime03 _I hope the trend does not last. Kids have too many distractions already. These things can cost from a hundred to a thousand pesos depending on the designs.

@josie_ Oh wow! I never knew it could get that expensive. Well, I hope it would die down soon like any other toy they come out with.

@allknowing _It stops your fidgeting. It's suppose to be a stress-reliever.

I think his hands need something to occupy them when he's not playing his video games. He can still play with it while he's girl watching. Kids that age always seem to be doing something or need something to occupy them. The fidget spinner is good for that.

i saw one who was using that spinner to attract buyers. i thought, how can that be a stress-reliever? if i play that, and my spinner won't spin, i might get all the more stressed.

@josie_ i mean, if my spinner won't spin, it is because i cannot, and do not want, to follow the instructions. i am hard-headed of some sort, you know.

@ridingbet _The spinner easily turn because it uses bearings. I will stick to the old fashion way to relieve stress, listen to relaxing music.

@ridingbet _Maybe you don't want to do it manually because it's tiresome. So I suggest you use the spinner of your washing machine. All it takes is a press of a button.

Well, they say these are great for kids with Special needs, so it probably is something that is Great for stress and helping take people's minds off of what is going on around them.

Never think that children don't have their pressure, actually they can suffer a high pressure as well as us. Today the study pressure is very high. The children have many homework to do. And they also go to extra class to study in their spare time. They have less free time. There will be endless exams and reports. Even if I feel the pressure as a parent.

@Letranknight2015 _ you hold it between your thumb and forefinger and spin it continually. Similar to twirling a pen with your fingers. Sorry if you didn't get the humor of my post. I hope that wasn't too stressful for you, but then you could always get a fidget-spinner.

It does seem many here are using these too @josie_

These are very popular these days. They are all sold out in the stores around here. I don't see how they would relieve stress, I think they would just be a big distraction from getting anything done!

@josie_ I agree! They will probably be forgotten about within a few months and then everyone will have useless fidget spinners laying around collecting dust around their homes.

@Srbageldog _They're just a fad that hopefully will lose it's appeal to kids. I would put the fidget spinner among the category of "most useless inventions"
