I've just been so busy lately. I updated last weekend at how busy we were with everything going on with the food festival and my son's award show.. then the weekend ended and my crazy, busy week began. I've had things going on every night all week.. Next week looks like much of the same..
But it just dawned on me that I never updated you all on how the awards show went!
The awards show was held at Landmark Theater, which is an extremely old, but gorgeous venue here in town. Most of our big theater productions, like the touring Phantom of the Opera show, and Wicked are held at this theater.
And my son was selected to actually perform on this stage.. the same stage where many extremely talented people have performed. He got a tour of the entire theater, used the dressing rooms... it was just so cool! He was a part of the big opening number, but he was front and center for the whole thing!
He was nominated for an award, and was up against some strong competition. We saw some of the other kids perform as well and they were so darn good! My son knew ahead of time there's no way he could beat some of these kids...
He did not win..
But it means a lot that he was nominated and that he got to perform on stage.
The pic is of him and his girlfriend. She spent the day with us so that she could go to the awards show to support my son..

She did. She was quiet and doesn't know us well. My son would come visit with us (mostly her) during his breaks and intermission and she would just light up anytime she saw him.. it was so darn cute! When we dropped her off her grandparents were at her house just leaving, so my son got out to meet them and they asked if he won, to which he said no, and they said "From what we heard, you should have won that award". That made him feel pretty good.

@DianneN I was too.. still am!
Hubby and I were talking about it a day or so later, and it reminded me how when he and I first started dating he invited me to his sister's wedding, but he was an usher in the wedding so I wouldn't go because I was worried about sitting alone and I hadn't met any of his family yet! So our son's girlfriend will do something that even I wouldn't do!

@katsmeow1213 She was a brave girl to go out with you. At that age, I was so shy!
