NEVER COMING BACK.

I could never forget the sadness felt in our home on that day when my eldest sister left on a jet plane for a foreign land. Of course, we knew that she would be back - that we would be seeing her again in a few years, but still, there was a very empty feeling in the house after her departure. Now, just a year ago - in June my sister left again, but this time we knew that she wasn't coming back - she died. It was and still is a difficult time for family members left behind. Will the pain ever go away? I don't know . For the past year I have tried everything to deal with it, but nothing seems to be working. How do you cope when you lose a beloved family member and you never had the chance to say goodbye.

It takes time to overcome this pain. It is not easy. I lost one of my good friends four years ago. She was very young. She just went away quietly. We still talk about her and miss her. Time is a great healer

It is very difficult to cope with such situations. I think time is the best healer. Still their memory haunts us.

How old was she Kandase? Where was she still in a foreign place and what happened to her? So sorry to hear this. Well I know that those who I have lost, I have felt such great grief that it lessens with time, but it never goes away. So in order to deal with this, I have made it a point of looking forward to the day I see them again. It is so hard to remember I understand when we get a photo that reminds us.

@Kandae11 That makes it even harder when a person leaves us at such a young age, with so much to look forward to in life. I am sorry for your sadness. RIP your beloved Sister.

What I'll say is that she was too young to die - she was so full of life. She was a fashion designer and owned a boutique in a neighboring island.

I am so terribly sorry. My husband lost his older brother last June, too, and his middle brother in June 10 years ago. Not a happy month.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Everyone grieves in their own way. It can take years or days. You can't force it to come to an end. Grief doesn't work that way.

It's devastating but we handle it as best we can. I've had the experience and it's a fight every day. I have no advice to make it better.

She never liked worrying us about anything, so we didn't know the real situation until it was too late.

I am so sorry @Kandae11 , I do not know how I will cope. I only hope that with time the hurt will lessen for you. You could maybe light a candle and take a moment to reminisce and say goodbye. May she rest in peace, and strength to you.

For me, it all depends on the person and the relationship. Some pain lessens over time. Some just never seems to ease up. I guess, the deeper the love, the deeper we grieve over the loss. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Wish I could give you a hug.

Thank you for the kind words. I must say my Mylot family have managed to make me feel a bit better at this time. Last Sunday was the first anniversary of her passing.

We have to live with the pain. It never really goes away. But I sense some guilt in your not having a chance to say goodbye. You have to let that go.
