Chronic diseases

How many people on this site have autoimmune diseases? I have a rare chronic one called dermatomyositis and it means that my immune system is attacking my skin and muscles. It causes muscle pain when I do some things and affects my strength, speed and flexibility. It also affects my skin sensitivity and appearance. I am very itchy and my skin peels. I also have a variety of skin tones and people have thought I was burned because of skin pigment lost. I take immunosuppressive medication that fights against my immune system. I also know other people who suffer from severe and more common autoimmune diseases as well as other health issues in general. This is a big part of my life and some of my loved ones' lives as well.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I have the garden variety arthritis and Fibromyalgia, but I'm thankful they can be managed fairly well most of the time. Hope you're having a good day today.
