Day 277
Proverbs 27:8
Proverbs 27:8 As a bird that wanders from her nest, so is a man that wanders from his place.
There are many ways a man can wander from his responsibilities. From that of father, from his job, being unreliable to the obligations he committed to. He never stays in one place long enough to put down any kind of roots.
Solomon likened a man who didn’t take care of his responsibilities to a bird who wandered from its nest.
Even Christians fall on the excuse they don’t know what God has called them to do and they are forever seeking their place in the body of Christ.
Your calling is found in the gifts and talents God has given you. What are you passionate about? What are you good at? God will not call you to do something he has not equipped you for. Chances are you are already working within your calling and don’t realize it. Stop wandering and settle down to be the best at whatever God has called you to do.
As children you would proclaim to anybody who would listen what you would be when you grew up. Are you doing what you said you would as a child? Or did God change your passion and desires to something else you found more fulfilling?
From a very young child I wanted to be a nurse. I proclaimed it to everyone I knew. Yet, I hate needles. So, I started revising my idea of what part of the nursing field I wanted to work in. All the time I was trying to justify myself in the nursing field, I was writing stories. They might not have been good stories, but the fact was, I was writing and I never stopped writing. As a young adult, I got subscriptions to writer magazines so I would know what the publishing industry was looking for in authors. I worked in several different fields, but my passion was writing, and still is.
When I said yes to God, and became a born again Christian, my passion for writing went up a notch. Not only was I writing stories, but I was ingesting everything I could of God’s Word. I took notes of every sermon. I started teaching Sunday school and as I did, I also started doing in depth Bible studies. I went from reading the Bible to studying it, to writing down what I was learning, and then God sent me to Bible college.
Everything I have done from a young child to today has brought me where I am today as a Bible student and author. I am always learning.
That is what God wants for you – to always be learning what he has called you to do. He doesn’t want you wandering from one thing to another and never settling down on what you are passionate about. He wants you working in the calling he instilled in you.
1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. (KJV)
Let’s pray: Father, help me settle down in the calling you have on my life and not wander aimlessly in life, unsettled. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
