“Ezra knows best ...” What would happen if you could take one of the biggest mistake in your life and have it almost completely wiped out? Through a series of flashbacks and cryptic hints, you get to see the residents of the unusual but beautiful Havenhurst try to stay on their path to recovery. Some are addicted to sex, others alcohol but its the ones that show no signs of addiction that prove to be the most interesting. Leading all of the antics is Elanor; as soon as she starts speaking you know that she has a god Complex. Elanor hand picks the residents and even though some of the people don't seem like they are afflicted with a monkey on their back. People come, people go but Havenhurst never changes. When Jackie's long-time friend Danielle disappears she takes it upon herself to try to find her. Wouldn't you know, Danielle was staying at Havenhurst in room 1006 – the same room Jackie ended up with when she was released from recovery house for addicts. That's the first of many strange happenings; Sara is one of the 'normal' residents that always stresses the need to “be good” and “behave”. The movie, as a whole, has a sinister feel to it; even in the middle of the afternoon the rooms and hallways are shrouded in an almost fog-like darkness. Havenhurst popped up on my Netflix feed as being comparable to other movies I watched. It's not exactly a horror movie in the sense that it's gore-filled but the psychological side of it gives it an edge over other movies in the same league. I will admit thus, seeing how some of the residents are dispatched when they break the rules put a smile on my face. Image: Brainstorm Media

I actually prefer the psychological thrillers, as they are always actually scarier than the gore and slasher flicks.

For me, the plausibility of a movie is what makes it a 'hit or miss'. Like, someone hiding or living in the crawlspaces of your house. that feeling of being watched no matter where you go in the house

I'd also recommend Baskin BUT that is some of the craziest stuff I have ever seen.

It's not a five star flick - I'd recommend Satanic or Altar (both on Netflix) if you want gore and a strong plot.
