Probably Shouldn't Have Done That

Earlier today I ventured out to the movies with my mom and my sister. It was my first real outing since I had my hernia repair surgery two weeks ago. After the movie, we were walking to a nearby store when we passed by a lone, little sunflower growing in the empty lot behind the shopping plaza. I thought it would make a pretty picture, so I squatted down with my phone and snapped a photo. After I stood back up, it occurred to me that I probably shouldn't have done that, although my surgeon said nothing about not squatting. I don't know if squatting falls under "strenuous activities" or not. My mom pointed out that when I lifted myself up, I was lifting my entire body weight, which is definitely more than 15 pounds. I have been hurting all evening after that incident, although I was still sore before I did that too. I hope I didn't hurt myself or mess anything up. I've been icing the area throughout the evening and hope it stops hurting soon. Dumb*ss me! At least the picture turned out alright.
Photo is mine and cannot be used without my permission.

Yes, squatting is definitely a no no. I hope that you are okay. Your doctor should have told you to restrict from certain activities, one being squatting. Often times they don't go into detail what you shouldn't be doing.

@Srbageldog just be careful. When I had my gallbladder out I couldn't do any twisting, bending, reaching, or lifting for 6 weeks.

I wish he had been specific about what not to do. He just said no strenuous activities and no lifting anything over 15 pounds. I might call him later and ask if I should be worried. Hopefully I will be ok since it has been two weeks already. I don't want to have to go through surgery again.

@ElusiveButterfly My surgeon just told me no lifting over 15 lbs for 6 weeks and no strenuous activities (though he didn't really elaborate on what that means.) I am trying to be more careful from here on out, as I don't want to do any damage.

Thank you. If I keep having pain I will call my doctor and ask if I should be worried. Right now it is not really hurting so hopefully I didn't injure myself.

It didn't even occur to me until after she said it. I really hope I didn't re-injure myself. I don't want to have surgery again. :(

Yes, I realize that now. I don't know what I was thinking (well I wasn't I guess.) The movie was "Some Like It Hot," the classic film starring Marilyn Monroe.
