Update on my cousin who was critically ill

Some of you may remember my post about my cousin who was in the hospital for four weeks with the flue, MRSA pneumonia, and then surgery to remove part of his large intestines. He came home last week and was recovering as well as he could. I took him to his doctor's office yesterday to have some blood work done, (his 11 year old son went with us), we started home, picked up some lunch at Hardee's and were about 25 miles from the doctor when my cousin got a phone call telling us to turn around and go immediately to the ER. They saw a small spot on the xray of his lungs that might be more pneumonia. Well, we of course went right to the ER. Got there about 1:00 and at 7pm, he still hadn't seen a doctor. They finally got him to a bed. What I was the most concerned about was the red, painful welts he was developing on both legs. After a CT scan of his lungs, the doctors said they didn't see any pneumonia and the welts are probably coming from the Rheumatoid Arthritis he has. When he became to seriously ill, they took him off his RA meds while he was in the hospital, but now that's caused the RA to flare up even worse. Poor fella. But I'm thankful he's home (came home about 5am this morning!) and hopefully the doctor can find another RA medicine that he can take. Thank you again so much for all your prayers and concern.

I am so sorry to hear about what your cousin is going through. How is he doing now? What were the spots on his lungs? You are a fine cousin to have helping like you are. Praying for him.

Thanks so much. Not sure what they decided the spot on the xray was, maybe scar tissue? He doesn't have many relatives who help him much, but he's always helping others. He loves banana pudding so I'm fixing him one today.

@1creekgirl That seems to be the way today. There are so many people who help others, but nobody wants to help them. That is so nice of you.

I appreciate your prayers. I was more worried about the red spots than anything else right then. But maybe the false alarm was a blessing in disguise so they could treat the legs.

Oh my goodness. Must have been so scary getting the call and being told to go to the ER.

It was, we were worried that the pneumonia wasn't completely gone. I'm so thankful it was ok and I'm glad the doctor was able to give him some antibiotics for the RA spots.

I told him yesterday about how when we were able to visit him for a few seconds in the hospital where he was actually close to dying, he asked about how we were doing with our medical problems!
