In the 1970s there was a lovely singer with an amazing voice. Her name was Linda Ronstadt and she was most popular in the late 1970s. She was comfortable singing both country and rock. One of the biggest hits of her career was a song called “When Will I Be Loved” and it rose up to number one on the county music charts on June 13, 1975. This song was included on Ronstadt’s breakthrough album from 1975 Heart Like a Wheel. The album included three top-10 hits which did well on both the country and pop charts. “When Will I Be Loved” went on both charts, “You’re No Good” just on the pop charts and “I Can’t Help It (If I’m Still In Love With You” on both. This was the start of Ronstadt’s amazing career which stretched over thirty years. She had a most diverse voice and did well singing hits written by country artists like Hank Williams, rock hits by Elvis Costello and even sang Cole Porter songs among others. She even joined country stars Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris in the album titled Trio. She retired from a musical career in 2011 and in 2013 came out with the announcement that she had Parkinson’s disease and she could no longer sing. http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/linda-ronstadt-has-her-first-1-hit-on-the-country-music-charts
