The director of the "Rocky" and "Karate Kid" motion picture John G. Avildsen passed away on Friday in Los Angeles California of pancreatic cancer. Avildsen was 81 years of age at the time of his death. His death comes one week after the passing of "Batman" actor Adam West who died one week earlier from a battle with leukemia. Avildsen directed the movies "Rocky" and "Rocky V" and three of the "Karate Kid" movies that starred Ralph Macchio, the late Noriyuki "Pat" Morita and Elisabeth Shue. Avildsen's last film that he directed was the movie "Inferno" that starred actor Jean Claude Van Damme. Avildsen will be best remembered for directing motion pictures of underdog characters. May he rest in peace. Thanks for the memories.
