The best thing about today is that it is sunny outside. The temperatures continue to be just right and everything is in full bloom. We did have a sudden thunder shower but then the sun came out again. Nothing much going on here but my hubby’s daughter will be picking us up tomorrow so that I can get my U.S. Passport. I have dual citizenship so it is important for me to keep my passport current even if I don’t travel. It is such an expense that last year when I needed to renew it I knew that we couldn’t afford to pay the $135. This year we were lucky to have a bit extra so I went to renew my passport. Hated the photo for the passport but such is life. I was glad that for a citizen it cost me $110 but even that is steep. Tomorrow I will get my passport and so it will be good for some years. Then we have to stop at the post office to send some candy to my godfather. He just became 95 in May and he really enjoyed the candy I sent him for his birthday. Since Latvians also celebrate Names Days then his name is the ever popular Latvian name Janis or John which is celebrated as part of the traditional Midsummer’s celebration here John’s Day being on June 24. So another candy package is going out to him. Luckily I can get everything done because Friday is already Midsummer’s night celebration and since it is a traditional holiday it is a day off for everyone except our store clerks.
