Independence

First your mind should be independent. You should be willing to make independent decisions for yourself. Open your ears for advice but don't let others overpower you.

What kind of independence are you referring to? Inter-dependency in society cannot be avoided.

A bit short as a discussion starter, wouldn't you say? What kind of dependence/independence are you talking about at all?

You work towards it as best you can with what limited resources you have, and then try to make good, strategic decisions that will maximize your efforts as your resources increase. And you may have to set boundaries or get away from oppressive or draining people if they're one of the factors limiting your self development.
