The longest day of the year, being the Summer Solstice, so steady day shortening from now to the Winter Solstice. I paid some bills, visited a lovely new city centre bar called The Gas Works, job searched through the library and binge-watched TV. Inky the cat came home early so I thought she was behaving for once. I sealed off the cat flap with a wooden board as Inky's owners advised but in the night I heard it fall loudly to the floor and heard Inky dash through the cat flap for more nocturnal adventures. She did return early this morning so I now have to increase cat flap security - I feel like a guard at Colditz. Arthur Chappell
