Favorite Summer Songs #2 - "Dirty Black Summer"

Just because it was cold (61°) and rainy here all day doesn't mean it's not summer in the rest of the country. My Favorite Summer Songs, or songs with "summer" in the title, continues with #2: "Dirty Black Summer" by Danzig. "Dirty Black Summer" is a single from Danzig's 1992 album Danzig III: How the Gods Kill. Whether or not that single charted, however, I have absolutely no idea. I used to watch the video (directed by Anton Corbijn) on MTV all the time, and I know it got played on the radio, because I used to crank it up in my truck whenever it came on. But I can't find any evidence of chart action whatsoever. Produced by Glenn Danzig and Rick Rubin, How the Gods Kill was recorded by the "classic" lineup of Danzig, bassist Eerie Von, guitarist John Christ, and drummer Chuck Biscuits. Perhaps a tad heavy and dark for most folks' summer tastes, "Dirty Black Summer" is a far cry from the summery magic of, say, The Beach Boys. It rocks, though, and some summer's, that's what I need.
