So @teamfreak16 and I went through the numbers -- the actual numerals -- featured in the titles of our favorite songs. Now it's time for me to jump on the number train and list my favorite songs that have numbers spelled out (the word, not the number). The first thing I noticed is this list needs to be a lot longer. But ten it is, so here's the first one.
#10: Eleven Roses - Hank Williams Jr.
Don't you judge me!
If you're expecting rowdy friends on this song you're going to be sadly disappointed. This is a great ballad, written by Darrell McCall, who was inspired by a Mother's Day treat for his mom: he gave her eleven roses with a card that said, "look in the mirror while holding the roses and you'll see the 12th rose looking at you." Awww
So McCall turned it into a song about a man trying to make amends to his girl for an unspecified sin ("after what I've done you may not keep the roses") by sending eleven roses and using that line.
This is pre-accident Hank Jr. when he was more interested in sounding country and singing about knowing Red Foley instead of Van Halen as he did later in "Young Country." It's a terrific heartbreak song and something that'll surprise you if you're only used to the post-accident rocking Hank Jr.
