American rock band The Byrds came out with their debut album titled Mr. Tambourine Man in 1965. What they had done for the title song “Mr. Tambourine Man” which was written by Bob Dylan was just amazing. It came forth with an entire new and exciting sound and became a number one hit for them. This song also became the only Dylan song to reach number one. It was the band’s Roger McGuinn who devised the group’s unique sound, making his electric 12-string Rickenbacker guitar the basis of the Byrds’ trademark sound. Their newfound sound would influence many other groups. Who enjoys the music of The Byrds? Love the Byrds and Mr. Tambourine Man was great song. Are you saying that no other Bob Dylan song ever became number 1?

Well, of course, I had to go and listen to the song and a couple of their albums. It was a while since I heard some of their songs. Did you know that The Beatles said The Byrds were their favorite American group?

@1hopefulman No I did not know that The Beatles liked them. I do know that supposedly Bob Dylan was impressed when he heard what they had done to his song Mr. Tambourine Man and exclaimed - my goodness you can even dance to the song.

A lot of people don't talk about their influence on country-rock with Sweetheart of the Rodeo. And thanks for not including that horrid William Shatner version of "Mr. Tambourine Man."

I can hardly believe this was the only Dylan song to be a number one with all his great songs.
