When life was a lot more simple the being free to come in from school, change out of our "Good Clothes" do a few chores and then go outside, ride our bikes or go over to the next block to play with friends and be in by dark. Those were the best memories.

Always a wonderful Christmas that my mother (by herself) provided for me, my brother and sister. Thanks mom!

My favorite memories at any age are definitely those spent with my grandfather. My grandparents raised me, and he was, is, and always will be my idol. He is strong, yet loving, and so brilliant! We call him the walking, talking encyclopedia.
He was the one person that I have always looked up to. I was a very inquisitive child, and he always took the time to show me new things, to help me learn about everything that I wanted to know. Whether it was gardening or working with wood, he taught me all. We would spend all day out in the yard or the shed making things or just talking. My grandmother would have to call us a few times before we snapped out of it to even hear her..lol. But she knew that I was a happy child, what more could they ask for?
Another is my grandmother chasing me around the yard with a broom pretending to beat my bum. And yes, I really do mean pretending because my nan definitely does not know how to spank. I'd keel over if I ever saw it happen..lol. But yeah, I would run around squealing with delight as she chased me saying, "C'mon over here while I beat that bum with my big bad broom!", and "Ohhh, you're in for a beating now!"...lol.
It's great to remember these things especially now. My grandmother is 76, and my grandfather is 69 this year. I have enjoyed them throughout my life and only pray for my children to have more time with these wonderful people.

I remember begging to go be go outside to play marbles or hopscotch. We didn't have video games, computers or televisions that displayde 500 channels. We had the good old outdoors. When you were grounded to the inside of the house it was torture.

I really treasure my childhood, we were poor, but I didn't realize that I was because I had everything that I basically
needed to be happy. I had my mom and dad, I was fed and clothed. I attended a local school and that was just across
the big avenue. I had a huge circle of friends and we did everything together. And we actually played outside...jump
rope, skating, skullies, racing, hopscotch...you name it, we did it. And what is so amazing, we had such a great time and it cost so little. These days nothing is cheap and if you indulge in anything then you have to worry about paying for it afterwards...Gosh I miss the old days...SS

I guess just being so carefree. You didn't have to worry about the pain of going through a break-up...or you have to study for your three tests on monday. The most difficult test you had was a times test. Life was just so easy. Your biggest issue probably at five years old was trying to get out of your nap...not trying to figure out how you're going to pay the bills or how you're going to get through a break-up. In case you couldn't tell, I'm going through a break up, and would do anything to be five years old again.
