Dogs tip Worse then Republicans and Lawyers

Ginger and Ace have decided the only reason I am home these days is to open the door to let them out when something in the backyard interests them, and then to let them back in 5 to 10 minutes later when they decide it is too hot outside. I wouldn't mind so much, if they tipped well, but the don't tip at all. This humorous thought got me to wondering who are the worst tippers, so I looked it up. The worst tippers from the standpoint of profession are lawyers, followed closely by doctors. I've always heard that lawyers were lousy tippers. From a political standpoint, Republicans are far worse tippers than Democrats. This fits the narrative, I suppose. Republicans don't want to tip too well for fear the server may develop aspirations of accumulating wealth and that is one thing Republicans absolutely cannot tolerate - the idea of anyone who is not already rich becoming rich. Or so the Democrats would have us believe. Either way, I am stuck with the part-time job of doggy door man, with no hope of ever being tipped for my efforts. Who knew my dogs were Republicans?

Since cafés and restaurants added 15% to include the service the tip has quite disappeared in France. I do not remember when a law authorized them to do so, but if I follow you it was probably a Democrat law. Speaking of lawyers I remember a friend who was leaving tips of 10 or 20 cents. I was with him in a café once, and he left 10 cents. The waiter came, took the 10 cents, looked at him and said "Thank you, my prince" ; my friend responded "Your welcome, my good man".

@Fleurnight I prefer to have it included. First, many people do not use anymore cash, are paying everything with a credit card, and it would be impossible to add a tip ; and second some people were insisting a lot to get their tip, like the usherettes in cinemas and theaters who were blocking the way to your seat until they were satisfied by the amount of coins received in their hand. And in a café you could be insulted if you were not giving something to the waiter. Sometimes they were taking a good tip themselves by not giving the change on a banknote and telling "Thank you".

@Fleurnight France and Canada are two different countries. France is a country full of apparently grumpy people complaining just to complain who are hardly following any rule and have been at the source of quite all revolutions in Europe. Canadians are more British : they queue, they do not like/accept criticism like we do, they do not raise their voice to insult or complain like us, etc. I am not sure that adding the tip with a card would have been possible here, because there is a VAT on the bill and not on the service/tip.

@Fleurnight How long did you lived there ? I would not use "honor" for a protest, but why not. Last time I went to a march was in 2015 after the attack on Charlie Hebdo. I had met two of the cartoonists killed in the past, and I was there to defend the freedom of the media, but our politicians considered that these marches were for more security and we got a few more laws restricting the freedom of everybody. A failure.

Wish you could get a decent tip there DW. I guess I never had any of those bad tippers you mentioned. I was blessed with good tippers.

I've known some chintzy tippers in my day. It's one of the reasons I always over tip, to make up for those parsimonious jerks.

! Terrific discussion. However, having 3 lawyers in the family, all of which are Democrats, I have to disagree. They are all big tippers.

You need to teach them the trick of opening the door to let themselves in and out!

I've tried, but Ace cannot reach the door handle and Ginger complains she has no thumbs. I think they are just being lazy and prefer to make me work.

I love that picture. The only tip you can expect from Ginger and Ace would be an extra doggy hug or tail wagging..

Ace gives me plenty of doggy hugs. He is my Velcro dog. If I am home, other than to go outside, he's got to be where he can see me.

I am a full time dog door opener too. I give tips for good Service most of the time at least more than ten cents. I don´t know what side my dog is on though. He does not like most of them except for Mr. Rajoy. As for the rest of the Politicians I would not tip them even ten cents nah just kidding really. My dog loves chasing Cats and barking loudly very much so at people who call him names.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Ace has never caught anything as yet, but Ginger has caught a few baby rabbits and a squirrel. She was unusually gentle with the rabbits and we saved two of them. The squirrel wasn't so lucky.

Haha, and that my friend is why we usually just leave the back door open. At least yours does not come up to you and jab you in the side every hour. Dogs are rude and do not appreciate hard work. Probably why they are bad tippers, but more than make up for it in their sense of humor.

With the hot, humid weather, and the bugs, leaving the backdoor open is not really an option this time of year.

From personal experience people that have lots of money do not tip well at all. I was a waitress and the ones that tipped bigger were the ones with less money. Maybe because they know how it feels to work your butt off and make almost nothing? Just a theory. I'm a Republican and I tip well when I do go out, which isn't often that I can afford to. =) As for the dogs-I have the same problem with mine! Lol

I worked in a restaurant doing a variety of jobs, including busing tables and assisting the bar tender, and know how some people can be. I always go out of my way to be friendly and pleasant with my server, and courteous as well. And I do over tip, unless the service is truly bad.

I get lots of happy tail wags, but if I had a quarter from each of them every time I let them in or out, I could afford to buy that new truck I want.

According to the research I read, bar owners, other servers, and people who drink vodka are the best tippers. So, the customer you want is a bartending bar owner doing vodka shots.
