Neighbors Who Just Sit Around Staring All Day

No matter where I have lived, there is always at least one weirdo in the neighborhood who sits out on their porch (or balcony) just staring at people all day, everyday. When I was growing up, there was an older man who did this, and we nicknamed him "X-Ray Vision" (why else would he spend his days staring at people if not because he could see through their clothing??) He always kinda gave me the creeps. You could look out the kitchen window and there he'd be, sitting out on his porch a couple houses down staring right back in at ya. Later on another older man showed up on the end of the street, who would also just sit outside all day watching people. He got in trouble for touching himself while watching some kids, so in that case he really WAS a creep. Now I live next to a family who has two weirdos who sit outside staring at people all day. One is the Balcony Woman, who I have mentioned before. She doesn't really stare at people so much as she just pretty much lives on the balcony and is loud. Then there is the husband (not HER husband -- she's a lesbian -- he's her sister's husband, who actually lives...well, inside.) I'm not even sure if he lives there full time anymore, as he never seemed to move back in once they came back after packing up a U-Haul and allegedly moving out of state. They left the Balcony Woman behind in the apartment and then a few months later her sister came back with the kids. Anyway. The husband (or whoever he is) doesn't seem to work and when he's around he just sits out on the balcony staring at people. Like, blatantly staring. Sometimes I feel like telling him to take a picture, it will last longer, but he scares me since he came over once banging on our door and screaming at my boyfriend. So I just try to steer clear of him. But he doesn't just stare from the balcony, either. No, if he hears you walking through the parking lot, his head suddenly appears in their window (which faces the parking lot) and he just sits there glaring down at you the entire time you are outside. How freaking creepy. It's gotten to where I hate going outside because he's always out there just sitting and staring, his eyes following you the entire time. He must have a lot of time on his hands if he can spend it just sitting around staring at people. I have never understood men who do this. And it is almost always men. I can't recall ever having a female neighbor who just sat around staring at people. One thing these men have all had in common is that they are immigrants from other countries, although not all from the same countries. Have you ever had a weirdo neighbor who just sat around all day staring at people who are just trying to go about their daily business? Is it a cultural difference? Or am I just a weirdo magnet?

That would really make me uncomfortable. I live in an apartment so fortunately I've never had to deal with weird stares from weirdo neighbors. I hope I won't ever have to!

I hope you won't ever have to either. It makes me very uncomfortable, especially when I'm trying to take out the trash and the weirdo is just sitting there watching me...

No thank goodness we haven't. Our neighbors here in PA. do sit on their side porch but everyone in the neighborhood knows them and stops by to say hi and they bring us cake every time we visit so not creepy at all and in CT our neighbors are all very private. I don't think I would care much for the staring neighbor.

I don't mind people sitting out and chatting in the evening. It's just weird when it's one person by themself, and they aren't doing anything but sitting there and staring right at you. All day long...

Yes, a few of our old men neighbors do it. One old woman does it too. Never understood why. Besides they have nothing else to do

My boyfriend is creeped out by this dude doing it. I've seen it before (with other neighbors) and find it creepy, but not like he does. LOL I have never understood why people do it either. Especially when it's so hot outside and he could easily go sit inside with the AC on.
