Favorite "Talk" Songs #9 - "Elephant Talk"

Nearly everyone talks, so why not? We are at #9 in my Favorite "Talk" Songs, songs with "talk" (or some variation) in the title. Just a basic theme. The 9th spot belongs to a band making their first appearance in one of my music countdowns, King Crimson, with "Elephant Talk."
From their 1981 album, Discipline, "Elephant Talk" is a technical music fan's dream. Featuring a classic King Crimson lineup, guitarists Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew, bassist Tony Levin, and drummer Bill Bruford, "Elephant Talk" showcases Fripp and Belew's guitar chemistry, with both playing (here's that word again) highly technical riffs, with Fripp, as is his style, coaxing multiple different sounds out of his guitar.
The result is an updated version of the band's prog rock days. It's tight as hell, with some stellar play by both Levin (one of the best bassists in rock music) and Bruford (no slouch on the drums.)
The attached video is of King Crimson's performance on the old sketch comedy show, Friday's. Frankly, it's brilliant.
Enjoy!

Yeah, there is that. Ah, the 80's. Fashion-wise, anything went!

Funny you call it progressive rock. Elephant Talk was a new wave/alternative radio hit and progressive rock were persona non grata there. Fripp and Belew are new wave Hall of Famers. Great choice and I hadn't heard this song in forever. Takes me back to better days.

I do think it's still part prog, but they did cross over during that era. When I saw them, they only did new stuff. A bit disappointing, but they were still brilliant.

Ah, you can see Adrian's influence from working around Talking Heads there, can't you.....
And I remember Fridays. I saw Warren Zevon on that show, and Randy Meisner. Music guests too cool or not cool enough for SNL.

It's totally 80's King Crimson. A bit different than their older stuff.

@teamfreak16 I've been thinking a bit more abouot KC and am quite sure that I didn't hear any of their later stuff... not that I can remember any of their earlier efforts!

Honestly, unless you listen to King Crimson, you probably wouldn't have heard it.
