Porte Out of Tour de France

Another day, another big name exits the Tour de France.
Australian Richie Porte, among the favorites to win the Yellow Jersey, was involved in a horrific crash on stage nine of the race today. Although the Tour Doctor reported that Porte was responsive and coherent, and that his injuries did not appear as bad as expected, he was taken to the hospital for further examination.
If you want to see the crash, I've linked to a 30-ish second video.
Update: X-Rays revealed that Porte has a fractured clavicle and pelvis. He will be off the bike for at least four weeks.

@TiarasOceanView - I feel really bad for Dan Martin. The article didn't say if he finished or had to abandon.

I saw that bit already and all the others that fell off too and I think it was yesterday.
I see it in bits and pieces as they put it on at awkward times and the Commentators drone on and on a bit too much sometimes so I fast forward those long bits of just roads and roads.
Hope he recovers well anyway.

I hope so too. He's a great rider. We don't have a TV right now, so I have to follow it on the Internet and watch highlights.

Better off that way really.
Fabulous spots in France their Villages and Towns.
I think that Chris Froome could be a good chance for the winner but you never know and its such a long way ahead then the Tour of Spain.

@lovinangelsinstead21 - I'm rooting for Quintana, but I think Froome is going to win again if he doesn't crash out or get sick, even without Thomas working for him.

Do you find there's less interest in bicycle racing, even the Tour de France, after the L*nce Armstr*ng scandal?

Oh yes, definitely. Personally, I just assume they are all cheating and watch for entertainment purposes. I'm still a Lance fan, as a cyclist. As a decent human being (other than his cancer awareness endeavors,) not so much.

Accidents and mishaps happen in all sports that's why there is no such thing as a sure thing except for the Golden State Warriors.

Chris Froome would be going for his 5th Yellow Jersey in a row if he hadn't crashed out a couple years ago.

Some of the riders are kind of miffed that the organizers didn't make that stage finish at the top. They felt that last descent was "gratuitous." And now one of the top guys is out.

@Ronrybs - That is very possible. I like the summit finishes myself.

@teamfreak16 I wonder if the organisers were more interested in getting viewing figures?
