Critters In The Yard!

We have lived where we are for nearly 9 years. We have encountered various critters on our property. We live about a mile and a half out of town, in a quiet country setting. We live in a lovely cottage thats all wood and everyone that comes just loves it. I have shared pictures of our landscaping. If you haven't seen them yet, please go to my discussions and check them out. While we have lived here we have seen many different kinds of critters! Bear, Turkeys, Deer (momma and baby), Rabbits, Skunks, Squirrels, Chipmunks, Garter snakes, just recently we spotted a young Grey Fox, and Ducks. And we have many species of birds. My husband bought the more expensive bird seed and it really draws in some different birds. So if you're a bird watcher like us, spend a little bit more and get that bird seed that will attract different birds. We are so thankful to the Lord for all the critters we have the priviledge of seeing. The most beautiful bird that we just adore is the Baltimore Oriole's, several come in and eat the grape jelly we have put out for them. My husband said he has counted 10 Baltimore Oriole's male and female. We have not seen a porcupine but know that they are around this area of Northeastern PA. What type of critters do you see? Your place sounds lovely Kimberly. Such an abundance of nature there. I really don't see much here as we are urban, but once you start walking the trails you may see a bobcat oh no

@TiarasOceanView Oh it is lovely and I praise God for it. I am so thankful for where we live. It is so peaceful and God's presence is so real and tangible. I do believe there are bobcats and mountain lions in this area too we just haven't seen them where we live. I'm certain deeper in the woods is where they are.

Lots and lots of deer, gorgeous birds, a dog who decided to come and visit for an afternoon and NO BEARS. Thank goodness...

We live in the suburbs of Riga, Latvia. While the area is quiet with country-like roads there are not many critters that come this close to the city. We have a variety of birds which come in our garden and I have always something out for them. I would love to see the variety of critters you see.

@RasmaSandra As I shared all the critters we have seen on our property. This year there haven't been much except for one or two squirrels. Why? I believe God is answering my prayers for the critters, you see last year they got in my husbands flower gardens and he was mad. So he shot rabbits, ground hogs, squirrels, anything that threatened his flower gardens. So this year I got ahead of him in prayer for the animals. He's only killed one squirrel and we don't see the other critters I believe because of my petition for them to their Creator who loves them. So when my husband shoots and misses I chuckle under my breath! He knows I've prayed for them and I believe God has answered my prayers for the most part!

We live in a similar lovely setting. My favourite creature is the Snowy Owl that is my avatar. Took that picture just near our house. We see foxes, coyotes, skunks, one chipmunk, badgers, rabbits, deer, moose, many birds, garter snakes, frogs. We enjoy it a lot! Then there are the poor gophers and moles that my husband kills for the sake of our garden. :( We are near the prairie part of the province so it would be very unusual to see a bear or mountain lion. But possible in the river valley as they sometimes travel.

@paigea You also have a wonderful place. My husband said he's sure their is a snowy owl around but we haven't had the pleasure of seeing one. You have quite the variety too. Good for you. You know God has blessed us with all the wildlife and serenity where we live.

@paigea Thank you for that tid bit of information. I would love to see a snowy owl. I live in Northeastern Pennsylvania. I'm not sure if they are in this area or not. You mentioned North, so I wonder if they are in this area!

@Butchcass4 You will only see snowy owls in the winter. They go far north for the summer. And they hunt during the day, so if they come to your area you might see one. Once you see one, you will know where to look and then you will see it often.

If you consider crows & bats as critters, then we have seen some here! Other than that, just city dogs (real ones with their human slaves .)

Critters are loads of dogs whose owners let them run free. But that is a really lovely image that you have there.

@lovinangelsinstead21 It's neat that you call dogs critters where you live and we call all the animals critters. LOL.

Since we always experience monsoon rain. The local people anticipate seeing some frogs and snakes.

@Butchcass4 I think we can be in our dwelling place than to see them. In the countryside, it drives me crazy listening to their croaking sound of frogs at night.

@Shavkat We've only seen one garter snake here, but with the lake above us I'm certain there are frogs around too, just haven't been out to see them.

@JohnRoberts You have quite the variety of critters. I believe we have coyotes too just haven't seen them around where we live. But when my husband goes deer hunting he mentions critters he sees while he's out and coyotes are on that list!
