At what age is best to start allowing your kids help out in the kitchen

I allowed my son to help me in baking session only when he was 5

It should be asap but you must assess what are the things that they could involve in

I think 9 and 10 is a good age to start. My sister has 7 kids and they all cook and everything especially her 3 older ones. They are 13, 12 and 10. They cook full course meals.

As soon as they are ready and willing. I started out helping mom when I was around six. :) late start, don't you think?

Well, Kids should be able to help out the house from as young as 3 years old. By 3 they should be able to understand basic commands like Pick Up, Give, Put Back and Throw. of course nothing to extreme like giving them a knife to pass to you. I wasn't allowed to help my mother until I was a teenager. I allowed my kids since they were 5 years old to help with the smaller and not so dangerous things.

In my opinion, you should always answer your own question in the discussion. Not just ask a question.. I was 2 when i started helping my mom.
