Local Kmart Is Closing

Well my local kmart is one of the recent stores on the closing list. We still have a Sears but I won't be surprised if it makes the list soon either. I actually always saw more inside Kmart while shopping than I did Sears but who knows how many order online and pickup, I know I do often. Sales have already started and it is more busy than ever. I just wish all these people would've shopped to keep it from closing but I understand some just want a deal. I will admit I probably wouldn't shop at Kmart or Sears if it wasn't for Shop Your Way points and coupons. Plus I use Ebates when I order online because they allow you to still use points and get some back. I'm going to miss them but I will still probably continue to play if I can order from Sears still. I know they have a Max membership with free shipping abouve $30 but comparing shipping prices to other stores, Kmart just isn't competitive. They charge by item not order where at Walmart/Target if something is under their $35 limit, it's only $5.99. I've seen shipping really high in my order sometimes more than the item itself. Anyone else dealt with a store closing or currently are? And if there are none near you do you still take advantage or ordering online? I know I miss when the limit was only $10 for free shipping with the Max membership and I felt the yearly price was worth it.I guess it still is if you always order more than $30 worth of stuff but I usually do not. I can get to $20 more than $30.

I'm not sure what's closing around here. I do my "soap" shopping at the Dollar Tree, and buy random stuff like towels at Target.

Well I know besides our Kmart, we have a Gander Mountain that is closing here and it hasn't been opened long. Also in our mall we have Gymboree closing. Not sure what else is closing around here.

KMart closed here by me many years ago. Sears is still here but only hanging by a thread. Amazon and Walmart are keeping going. And those two if I really have to order online that is the two I use. Sorry to hear it is closing.

I've ordered plenty from Amazon and I pay for their Prime membership. I still get a student discount but come August it's back to $99 for me. But I feel their membership is worth it if you're using all the benefits they offer. And I've ordered and picked-up from Walmart. We go there often enough I don't usually order online.

It is sad what is happening as more places close. Some areas of Charlotte look like ghost towns with deserted malls.

That's how our only mall open looks or it's getting closed. The older mall the only thing there is a Dollar Tree. The land it's on also has where a Booksamillion, Chilis and Cheddars used to be. Rumors are they want to tear all 3 buildings along with the rest of the mall that already has part tore down. It seems outlet malls are more popular now.

Most kmarts AND sears are closing. Thankfully not ours. But kmart and sears may are by the same people. But are two different stores. Thats why one does better than the other.

its been about 6 years since ive stepped foot into a kmart. theres a sears at the mall here, but i have no desire to go. as far as ordering online, i like the stores that will ship it free to a local store and you just go pick it up, well, if the store is in your area.

That's what I like to do and what I normally do. I know Sears here does it which what I'm going to try to do in the future as long as they stay open. However ours is in our local mall and there are many empty spaces there. Many have said the mall will probably shut down. I think they want to turn it into an outlet mall or put up more apartments. It's hard for business to open here and stay open despite being a college town.

Well, around here, our Kmart is still staying open, or the few that are left. I was actually surprised that none of them or Sears are on the list. I do not shop at either much anymore, and prefer WalMart over these anyways.

Some Sears stores are closing in Lafayette Louisiana which is about 70 miles east of Lake Charles but so far the Lake Charles K Mart and Sears store are still open.

KMart is a chain store in serious financial trouble and its days are numbered.
