Why do you lie?

Everybody lies (or have lied at least once in life) and you certainly are not an exception. Something harmful or something without much importance... It's a fact that we lie. 
So, have you ever wondered why you lie? Is that hard for you to answer this question?

Can't speak for others but the only reasons I would lie is either to not make people worried about me or to not escalate a bad situation.

So to not make the situation worse. Sometimes you do it to make things simple.

I lie because I'm human. Human is not perfect in nature, so it's only humane that humans lie. I've tried stopping the lies, but I'm not sure it's stoppable.. I mean there are good and bad reasons for lying. I figured people, if they are going to lie, should atleast lie for a good reason.

I try to be honest but I have lied before, of course. Mostly, its to not hurt someone's feelings. I have lied to my children to protect them from certain things.
