Spending more money on food than education

After visiting my ex-schoolmate's house today, I had this question pondering in my mind. Would you rather spend more money on food for your family or would you spend more money on educating your children? Yes, you may spend money on both topics moderately but some families would rather spend money on food rather than on education. For example, my friend is willing to spend money on buying organic chicken, veggies, pork, fish, meats, fastfood, home delivery food and dining at fancy restaurants to feed her children. However, she is unwilling to spend money on purchasing encyclopedias, revision books, story books, stationary, school bags or anything related to educating her children. Hence, all her children had were toys all over the house. I didn't see any books around. What do you think?

I think there should be a balance, and whatever we spend on, we have to spend wisely and moderately.

What??? She don't want to spend on books . Then how will they read, learn anything. I think she should think about children again. Of course food is also important, but books are also important. She should spend on both books and food

I think that there should be money allocated to both in a proper manner.
