Today's photo is of one of the giraffes that I fed while at the zoo Saturday. It is one of my favorites because I was so close when I took it and it looks like she was peeking over the fence just to look at me. In reality, she was reaching for the lettuce that the caretaker was holding. This one is named Juma and she is only 4 years old. Giraffes are like my 4th favorite wild animal after lions, otters, and penguins. These giraffes were very loving but still cautious of humans which is a good thing for wild animals to have even if they are in a zoo.
Sadly since I was so close and we did have people behind us waiting I didn't get to take my time taking the photos. I don't ever remember looking through the hole but I am sure I did. I would have liked for the photo to be a little clearer but I am just glad that I got a good one in general since I know I was shaking with excitement because I was able to get so close to one.

The other one we fed had an extremely long tongue. They said he had the longest tongue of them all. The tongues are weird and the second one was not afraid to wrap his tongue around my hand looking for the lettuce either.

We actually got to hand feed these giraffes are self. It only cost $2 a person to do it so it was totally worth it.

Turned out to be a nice shot even though, it wasn't up to your expectations. :)

Thank you. It is a good one and since I will likely never get to be this up close to another giraffe in my life.

I read that giraffes developed their neck so they could reach the highest branches on a tree. That is a nice pic of a giraffe
