"No! you can't watch your favourite T.V show". "The EPL finals is live right now'. Well,Thanks to the record feature in our set top boxes that has helped control fights. This is just a small instance . We begin to build a belief within us that compromising is a key ingredient for a successful marriage and keep struggling. Is compromise the only glue that keeps two people together? what happens to a marriage without compromise?

A marriage that is based on the foundation of compromise is not a marriage in the first place.

Compromise in marriage is to some extent but when it is one sided one of the partners suffers from depression.

@aishanee both partners should believe in compromise to some extent for no two persons are the same. Well! If nature doesn't match the relationship cannot survive.

You could call it compromise and some people call it adjustment. In a marriage, one needs to adjust with each other. If either of the partner is not able to adjust due to one reason or the other, this could lead to separation.

@aishanee There cannot be a scale to measure to adjustments or over adjustments. Either of the two thinks that s/he makes more adjustment than his/her partner.

I've been married for 50 years this fall. We love each other and compromise is part of that but a small part. He likes sports and I don't, we both have our own TV to watch when it is a conflict.
