Best platforming video game

This is probably a very popular discussion among gamers. What's the best platforming video game? Well, when we think of this, we think back to the games of our childhood, since that's when most of us played platformers the most. Immediately I can say the original Spyro the Dragon trilogy is the best (in my opinion) pf our time; a true platforming masterpiece. Most people would say Crash Bandicoot, and as much as I love that too, I will always stick with my favourite purple dragon. I prefer the more open, free roaming exploration platforming of Spyro over the linear platforming of Crash Bandicoot. I'd be curious to know what everyone elses personal favourite is, hardcore gamer or not, what's the best platformer for you?

I have never heard of the games you talked about. You surely made me miss my childhood....video games were way too cool back then. I loved playing Mario, Aladdin, Prince of Persia, Mermaid and much more. Then I switched to computer and laptops playing Road Rash, NFS, CS and other. Now I kind of play begone online whenever I get some me time.

Yeah, it feels like as people grow up they switch to online multiplayer computer games. I guess its because we become more social and less in need of a fun story? I dont know! Haha

@Rigel401 Even I don't know. I wasn't that much social. I am trying to be more social now and try to initiate a conversation with people I come across. Going good so far And I would still like to play the game that is not connected online if I get my friends along.

@hydraa Any game in the Super Smash Bros. series is perfect for playing with others...that and Mario Kart.

I haven't played Ninja Gaiden myself but I watched the Game Grumps play it and it looks like a ton of fun. It's too bad we no longer have our SNES.
