In a nutshell, the last six songs in my Favorite Electronic Songs series has been a celebration of the synthesizer. And why not? A lot of great music has been made by those programmable machines. We are at #4 in the countdown: "Spin Spin Sugar" by Sneaker Pimps.
Released as a single in 1997, "Spin Spin Sugar" is from the Sneaker Pimps' 1996 album, Becoming X. While popular with the trip hop crowd, the song barely made a dent in the mainstream, stalling at #87 on the Billboard Hot 100. It fared much better in England, hitting #21. "Spin Spin Sugar" did the most damage in the dance clubs, however, reaching #2 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart (always trust the club DJ's. They know what's good.)
Recently, I used Sneaker Pimps' "6 Underground" in a countdown, so you might be familiar with the inspiration for the band's name. If not, the Sneaker Pimp was a Beastie Boys employee whose job was to track down classic sneakers for the trio.
And now you know!

That has a little more "bite" to the music than the typical electronic song.

Glad you liked it. They managed a bit of popularity in the 90's.
