Deer Scope -
Today was a hot one. Like the old dummy that I happen to be, it seemed to me to be a good day to take a nice ride around the area so as to get good and baked by the blazing sun of the early afternoon - and so, that is what I did.
Over by the far reaches of our development - thick forest and wide, wide fields of heavy grass and weeds - I could see one of "my deer" poking its big-eared head out from the trees. It was looking right at me from almost a mile away.Lucky for me, I was carrying my old Sony Mavica digital camera today in addition to the little Casio digital. The Mavica has a camera lens that can play telephoto up to about 14 power or so when you have to shoot your pix at a distance.
So that is what I did. The deer photo, above, was shot from way far away - and, lucky enough, the photo came through OK.
Then I told the mobility scooter to get with the program and make it on over to where I had spotted that deer. Away we went. The pathway close to where the deer had been standing was, unfortunately, sprinkled over with all sorts of pebbles, sand, and debris. When the scooter drove over that mess, the noise was quite loud and the deer was spooked into running away from the noise. I did manage to shoot one photo of the running deer, but it was not sharp enough to use here.
I was reminded of the time one of my co-workers talked me into going on my first (and only) deer hunt some years ago. He became really quite annoyed with me and my big feet. He said that I was just plain way too noisy to be out there chasing after deer. It would seem as though nothing much has changed in the noise-making stuff over these many years.
You can see from the photo that the deer was well aware that I was close at hand - and, today, I was not only at a great distance - I really was very quiet other than for the noisy run at the last of it by me and my little electric mobility scooter.

Very nice photos. I have a few prized shots (pics) of deer as they are plentiful in my area.

@Freelanzer - The chances are that your Canadian deer are larger than these little guys we have around here. It would be good to see some of your deer pix. -Gus-

@jstory07 - Ms Judy - What is so nice is that I have "the luck of the Irish" even though I don't have any of their genes to help me with so much good luck. ( And that old Sony Mavica camera is a beauty to use for telephoto stuff when you need it. ) -Gus-
