My my my, how time flies when you're having fun. We are at #2 in my Favorite Electronic Songs series, with a group making their first appearance in one of my music countdowns: Dead Can Dance, with "The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove."
With a couple of exceptions, I have tried to stay away from songs that utilize live instruments in addition to the electronics. In this case, "The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove" features some groovy sitar play, which totally fits the song's Middle Eastern flair.
The tune is rather dark and moody, and is quite popular with the goth crowd. Despite releasing eight studio albums, it is their only hit, reaching #8 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart.
Dead Can Dance is a duo, Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard (who does a lot of film work on the side. She scored the movie, Whale Rider, for instance.) Together, they make beautiful music.
Primarily electronic, "The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove" is an all-time favorite electronic tune, sitar and all.
Enjoy!

Apparently so. Too bad I do all of this on my phone. Don't know if it's compatible with iTunes, though.

They get points from me just for putting "ubiquitous" in the title. Even though the sitar is "real" as opposed to electronic, it has an "electronic" sound to it, so it really doesn't stick out to me.

I always thought they might have programmed it, but it's listed as an instrument.
