What Have You Celebrated Recently?

There are many holidays that people celebrate throughout the year, but there are so many other things that CAN be celebrated. We need to celebrate our lives as we live it every day. A family can celebrate other things. Here are some suggestions: Here is the important thing to remember however. As these things happen in your family, you MUST make note of them on a calendar or in a SPECIAL book where you keep track of such things. If you don’t do that, you won’t know when the anniversary of the event comes up. So, start writing these special events down somewhere and then you will have special days to celebrate throughout the year. Your children will be especially excited to remember and celebrate such events every year. What about a significant milestone, like a teenager getting his/her driver’s license? Or a child learning to tie his/her shoes? Or the day they lost their first tooth? Maybe the day when your child joined a sports team at school? Or a victory that someone achieved in any sport. A hole in one in golf. A winning touchdown. Receiving a trophy or some sort of special recognition at school. Perhaps when you brought home a precious kitten or puppy and named it and made it a part of your family. Or what about the date you moved into your new home. Or bought a new car. Perhaps you would want to celebrate the day you made the final payment on your house or car. IF you have young children, start making a note of these special events that they will appreciate you remembering them and celebrating them. These kinds of celebrations will mean a LOT more to your children as they grow up, than any holiday. There are so many good things, that are worthy of celebrating and will bring joy to your family over the years. And take LOTS of pictures of each event when it happens. Make a special photo album of these events. Your children will appreciate your taking the time to celebrate things in their lives as they were growing up. Celebrate by making special decorated CUPCAKES, or a cake or cookies and blow up balloons, decorate the house, give small gifts to everyone, make a BIG DEAL out of the event and invite the grandparents to come and celebrate with you.

I wouldn't mark down small things like mini golf or tying shoes. Even though at the time they would be big deals. But ive always been one in favor or the baby books for first step, word, teddy, pet, house, etc.

l gave all the "baby" books to my children when they got older. I don't know if they still have them or not. I kind of wish that I had kept them for myself, because I don't think they treasured them like I did. I just thought that they would want them.

@Courtlynn So many things that I wish I had now, got lost in the shuffle of moving around a lot. Now, that I'm older, I wish I had all those things. I wish I had taken more photos and kept better records of all my traveling days. I'm trying to write my memoirs and I'm having a difficult time remember dates and activities. I think a person should keep track of important events in their lives. I wish I had done better about that.

That's ALWAYS a good thing to celebrate. You've never said how old you are. None of my business, of course. But, I know you've done a lot of traveling and I assume that you are not a young person. I could be wrong. I'm an old person. And every day of life is to be celebrated.

Right now I am not celebrating anything, but, next week hopefully will be celebrating my Hebrew birthday by going out to eat with a friend and then hopefully finally going out to eat with another friend so we can celebrate our birthdays. On Thursday I will be celebrating turning my TV on after not watching for 3 weeks because of something us Jews are going through right now.
