the little house of messy stuff

My house is a mess at the moment.
Well, it's a cultured mess. The spare bed is neatly piled with cardboard boxes full of glassware, photographs in frames, Blu-rays/DVDs, and my extensive collection of perfume bottles.
There are books climbing the stairs.
Husband's EXTORTIONATELY HEAVY collection of Myth & Magic figurines has been boxed up and dragged three feet into Harry's bedroom under the stairs.
Tomorrow this room - which we affectionately call, the office - will become home to some small tables, a rather large pouffe and a bookcase. Maybe some dining chairs too.
I hate it.
But we're having our floor done and so the room must be emptied. Completely and utterly emptied. The floor will be screeded and then the laying of LV will take place. Then everything can go home to its rightful place. Unless I decide otherwise, which is highly likely. It's as good a time to have a change as any.
And oh, my gosh ... the aquarium! How could I forget that?! Before we go to bed tomorrow that will need to be moved. Please don't die, little fishies.
I need to prepare for strange people being in my home. I don't like other people being in my home. It sets my nerves on edge, even when it's people I know and love. Isn't that silly? A part of it is that this is my own personal space, but a tiny little part of it thinks they're judging me on my ability to clean, tidy and decorate. Not that it should matter, but it does, doesn't it?
This time next week I'll have a beautiful new floor for the cats to skid around on and all the furniture should be 'home'. Until then I shall just panic a little bit inside.

As long as it looks good. A bit of disruption will then be worth it.

I can't wait for it to be over and the work hasn't even started yet!

I remember when I had all my floors redone. Luckily I didn't have to move anything. The apartment was empty. And the Parquet floors held up all these years now. I am currently looking to downsize everything. I want to sell off some stuff and get rid of some other stuff. I think now less is more for me. But I still have a very large record collection. Hope it all works out smoothly for you so you can get back to normal.

@Poppylicious Good luck. Most hardwood floor will last forever. But they do dull over time. Which is normal. Although you can polish them from time to time. And the best thing about hardwood floors is that they are super easy to clean.

@inertia4 That's why I chose it over carpet ... I have a lot of thick dark hair that falls out a lot, and two cats who are prone - like most of their species - to chucking up upon the floor!

We're hoping that this floor will last for EVER! It's costing twice as much as carpet would, so *fingers crossed*. :)

I like my home cluttered with my bric-a-brac but a tidy home always looks good

Bric-a-brac is good ... until it needs packing away. :)
