Who Will Fight For Them

It tears my heart in two,
when I've seen the abuse given to you.
The sadness in your eyes,
as you cower, hide and cry.
The wounds, bruises and bleeding,
my mind suffers with grieving.
What evil monster could do this to you,
heartless, soulless; that is my view.
We are the guardians of those on four legs,
to protect and care for; not watch them beg.
The animal has a heart and soul and feels
pain like we do,
To watch them in defeat makes me blue.
I believe justice will be doled out in the end,
to those who don't think an animal is our friend.
Consider how 'you' want to be treated,
and teach your children so the abuse won't be repeated.
The latest SPCA commercial is out and I couldn't even bring myself to give you the link to it as it would ruin your day. So instead I just wrote this poem.

We just got a law approved that will mean fines and jail for animal abusers. I don“t think that the will endorse jail, but a fine will hurt some.

A lot of times 'hitting the wallet' is incentive @marguicha . I'm glad the law has been approved.

@nanette64 I love animals too. So does my boyfriend. Here is what we have had living in our yard in the past 19 years. 2 Large roosters, 4 ducks, 15 rabbits, dogs, cat, and even a lizard when my granddaughter visits. She has to trap the local gecko and keep them as a pet for a few days and then let them go. One time we were cleaning and found some gecko eggs in one of the shells in the house. She was playing with them and out came a baby gecko. She was so happy and excited that she wanted to keep the tiny little creature. I told her no he needed to be free so he could grow up some. She finally let him go.

@poehere I feel ya. Besides my own 3 dogs; there are 13 indoor cats, 1 outside feral, 3 donkeys and when I had the animal shelter here at my place 106 dogs and 20 cats.

That was one of the reasons that I started an animal shelter back in 2008 @DianneN . At one time we had 106 dogs and 20 cats. I know what kind of punishment that I would like to dole out.

I have realized that writing a poem can be a great way of sharing your views and opinions on certain issues. That was really done well and touched my heart. As a dog owner living in a country where not much attention on providing laws for their protection is just so heartbreaking. Roadkills are very common here and abusers also don't get penalized. Unless of course it was videotaped and posted on facebook because then people would react forcing those in position to do something. After a while though, issue is then forgotten and the cycle repeats itself.

Anything can be put to poetry @JeeyanDee . I prefer rhyming ones over other styles and yes, any topic can be put to poetry. Humor is one of my favorites to do but just about anything can set me off. My mother was a published poet as well. Thank you for the compliment.
