In the words of actor Jim Nabors who played Gomer Pyle on "Gomer Pyle U S M C" "Surprise! Surprise! Surprise" that despite the competition of new movies "The Emoji Movie" and "Atomic Blonde" that opened this week, "Dunkirk" remains the top movie of the weekend in theaters.
"Dunkirk" made $28, 130,000 dollars, "The Emoji Movie" made $25, 560,000 dollars, "Girls Trip" made $20,085,540 and "Atomic Blonde" came in fourth place with $18,554,000 dollars which is below what the expected return from the movie experts that felt that an action adventure movie that stars Charlie Theron as a tough as nails spy during the final days of the Cold War.
I guess movies based on historical events of World War II are getting more audiences than Cold War movies.
Hey Wonder Woman movie producers, consider having Wonder Woman battling gad guys in the World War II setting in the sequel.

Me too since the movie critics were saying it would fail since it did not have a lead actor that is a household name.

WWII has seen a lot of movies being made on it (some famous like Saving Private Ryan etc)
and I feel Dunkirk has been made very well, and its attracting the audience as well.

It is true since this movie shows what the soldiers went through during the battle scenes.

Some fierce competition this weekend. You would have thought the kid appeal of Emoji would have ruled the day.

That is true since when my relatives and myself went to see "War For The Planet Of The Apes" the vendors at the Landmark Cinema were wearing Emoji tee shirts.
