Sri Lanka is famous for spice trees. The Spice garden in the hilly spot at Kandy, Sri Lanka has many spice trees. among them the javitri trees are really amazing. The fruit looks different in the trees and when they are ripe and sold in the market. Javitri enhances taste of biriyani and fried rice in India and used by many Indian cooks.

I never heard about the Javitri before. Can you eat this fruit or is it simply used as a spice

Thanks Nawsheen, the fruit has a lot of drowsy effect.I know mostly people use it as spice by reducing it into powder and using in the dishes.
