Things went well today at the dermatologist's office. I love my dermatologist. I told him today he's my second-favorite doctor and third-favorite comedian.
I had a nasty sunburn when I lived in Hawaii, so the semi-annual visit to the dermatologist is one appointment I do not postpone! Now that it's out of the way for the next six months, with a clean bill of health, I'll give you the next song on my list of favorites that have "think" (or a variation) in the title. Here's today's song.
#8: Think - Aretha Franklin
You saw this one coming. I know. Just call my Petty Officer Obvious.
There are, to me, two complete and total scene-stealers in the classic film The Blues Brothers. One is Ray Charles (as the pawn shop owner) singing "Shake a Tail Feather." The other is 'Retha doing "Think" in the scene where she plays Matt "Guitar" Murphy's wife. And that is saying something in a film that is loaded, start to finish, with great, great, great music performances....highlighted by a first-rate group of musicians that, as Duck Dunn said, was "powerful enough to turn goat p*ss into gasoline."
Oh, does she sing this song that she co-wrote so, so well. It's a woman who loves her man, but she is not going to put up with anything.
As Aretha said in a Diet Pepsi commercial years later, you go, girl.
Think
Written by Aretha Franklin and Teddy White
Recorded by Aretha Franklin
From Aretha Now, 1968
Also from The Blues Brothers, 1980

Classic movie. I am going to get around to writing about it. Don't forget Cab Calloway, he was awesome too. But what a band! The joke wouldn't be nearly as good with a sub par band.
