The stray mother cat is still distressed

As I am typing this post, I could hear the stray black mother cat, meowing sadly and in a distress mode for her dead kitten. She was the one who had alerted me that her kitten was dead 3 days ago. If she had not been meowing for hours, I wouldn't had known that her kitty was dead and another mother cat was dead too. I am pretty sure that the dead mother cat does not belonged to the dead kitten because this meowing feline had been meowing for the past 3 days already. It is scary and creepy. How long will the stray mother cat be in distress mode? I had disposed her dead kitty body but she keeps looking her it. Do cats mourn for love ones that long?
