Bird Flu Scare: Buying from the Local Wet Market

Since bird flu epidemic struck two provinces in Central Luzon, Philippines, people got scared buying frozen chicken from grocery stores. Our place is safe, but I do not want to buy frozen ones too, so I bought fresh chicken meat from a wet market near us. I also asked the vendor where it came from and she said it came from a farm in our place and it is very safe to eat. We are avoiding pork, so we bought chicken meat, along with some fresh fish from the market. Do you still eat chicken if there's bird flu in your place?

Haven't had any poultry or eggs since the news about the bird flu came up. Sticking to pork, beef, fish, and veggies. Better to be safe than sorry.

At least the epidemic did not spread to other places.

I couldn't remember the last time we had a bird flu warning. And we still don't now. We don't eat pork and if there's a bird flu, I think we would stay away from eating chicken. I prefer fish and sea food anyway.

Fried chicken is my children's favorite. But when the news came out, we haven't been serving this food until now. It's better to be safe.

We don't buy chicken this past few days but not because of the bird flu. We just prefer pork and fish for the moment. I think most chicken are safe.

We never had that problem here in Australia .. I hope that the trust of the public is back now that even Duterte reassured the public that it's safe to eat chicken..
