Day 2 Isaiah 2 2:1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. 2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. 5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD. 6 Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers. 7 Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots: 8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made: 9 And the mean man bows down, and the great man humbles himself: therefore forgive them not. 10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty. 11 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. 12 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: 13 And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan, 14 And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up, 15 And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall, 16 And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures. 17 And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. 18 And the idols he shall utterly abolish. 19 And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake terribly the earth. 20 In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats; 21 To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake terribly the earth. 22 Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of? Peace. Everyone hungers for peace. It’s the one thing everyone wants for Christmas – peace on earth and good will for all men. Slogans shout peace not war. Yet, everywhere you look, terror walks our streets, blows up buildings, drives into crowds of people, attacks the innocent at concerts, even enters our bars and nightclubs. No place on earth is safe from the terror that covers the earth as clouds cover the sky. However, Isaiah saw a vision from the Lord concerning the last days. A day when God would shake the earth, a day when people who bowed down to idols made by their own hands, would flee before his face. They would seek holes in the earth to get away from him, but they will not find any place where God is not found. The Apostle John, exiled to Patmos, saw a vision of the Lord, and was commanded to write what was to come in the last days – the days of Tribulation, when antichrist will rule the earth. Revelation 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casts her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? Revelation 9:6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. (KJV) As Christians, we look forward to the day when Jesus returns for his bride and comes to rule and reign on earth for a thousand years in peace. Revelation 20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. (KJV) Yes, there will be peace, but not yet. Now, we live in a world where Satan is free to do what he wants, and what he wants is to terrorize anyone who calls him or herself a Christian. Nobody is truly safe in the world we live in. However, if you call yourself a Christian, God is still protecting you, and taking care of you. Jesus is still working on your behalf, and the Holy Spirit is still making a way for you. People are still being witnessed to in the name of Jesus, and accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord. Your work isn’t done yet. The world is still your mission field. There will be a day when we will beat our swords into plowshares, but that day hasn’t come yet. Today your mission is to win souls for Jesus Christ and take as many people out of Satan’s camp and put them armed for battle in the Lord’s camp. Let’s pray: Father, I look forward to the day when Jesus will reign in peace and Satan will be cast down forever. Arm me with your Word so I can go forth into the world, proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, winning souls, and taking as many people out of Satan’s camp as I can. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Satan is indeed roaming the earth seeking to ensnare as many as he can.
