Christians and Halloween (reasons to avoid pt 2)

Again, this post is more for informative purposes. Although, I personally celebrate Halloween, there was a time I didn't. So I understand the feelings of those who don't and respect their beliefs. I think one of the reasons we are so angry in this nation is because we automatically think that anyone who disagrees with us is an enemy. That is not the case. Sometimes we just disagree. With Halloween coming up, I am anticipating some animosity among the different belief systems. For Christians, I respect those who do not wish to celebrate, but lets also be careful in how we approach those who do. Here are the last five reasons many Christians do not celebrate Halloween: 1. Pumpkin carving is an occultist ritual. 2. Black cats are revered and worshiped by witches. 3. Witches bob for apples as a demonic fertility ritual. 4. Public schools celebrate Halloween but not Christmas. 5. Participation in Halloween promotes witchcraft and satanism. I am not trying to be controversial among fellow Christians, but this list seems somewhat ludicrous. First of all, evil exists every day of the year. Are we not gonna celebrate anything to avoid evil? Secondly, the two biggest Christian holidays (Easter and Christmas) contain some pagan elements. Thirdly, while I disagree with public schools banning Christmas celebrations, the public school is not like a satanic coven. Just because they celebrate halloween does not make it evil. There are many faithful Christians who work in the public school system. Lastly, apples, pumpkins, and black cats were created by God. Like anything else it is how we approach it. Avoiding a holiday because of how someone else uses and item associated with that holiday doesn't make sense to me. But that is just me. I love all cats, black ones included. The best cat I ever had was solid black. I carve pumpkins and have never communicated with evil spirits. And apples are one of the healthiest foods ever. I don't bob for them because that is just nasty, swirling your head in other peoples spit. But I will eat them and do crafts with them. If one wishes not to celebrate, let's respect their wishes. However, Christians who do, let us not guilt them or try to make them feel as if they are a lesser Christian.
