Favorite "Silent" Songs #6 - "Silent all These Years"

Songs with "silent" or "silence" in the title is the theme of this particular music series, and we've got a good one. We have reached #6 in the countdown: "Silent all These Years" by Tori Amos. "Silent all These Years" was the second single from Amos' 1992 debut album, Little Earthquakes. It was intended for Al Stewart, however, her producer, Eric Rosse, convinced Amos to record it herself. The song, which was used to raise awareness of RAINN, the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, performed decently. In 1991 it reached #51 in the UK. A 1992 release saw the song reach #26 in Britain, and #27 on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart. It was originally released as the B-Side to the first single, "Me and a Gun," and released as a single after BBC Radio One awarded it Song of the Week. I've linked to the official video, which was filmed in two days. And no, I can't imagine Al Stewart singing this. Despite her intentions, this is a tune right up Amos' alley. Enjoy!
