After the Beatles broke up they all found success as solo artists. Every solo member had a #1 song or two (or, in McCartney's case, six). For today's solo Beatles entry we turn to the much-maligned Mr. Starkey for this entry. #8: The No-No Song (Ringo) I used this before, in my "song songs" countdown (songs that had the word song in the title). It's a favorite of mine, thanks to my appreciation for the song's writer, the late Hoyt Axton. While a good-natured, lighthearted tune, the lyrics look at Axton's disdain for drugs (Axton also wrote "The Pusher," which Steppenwolf recorded, being a little more blunt in his opinion there). It's a perfect song for Ringo, who was usually relegated to singing the "lighthearted" songs (like "Yellow Submarine" or "Octopus's Garden") in the Beatles. A good combination of a great songwriter and the right song for the right man.
