Opening night: Free pizzas!

A new Italian pizzeria will begin to work close to my work and the opening will be today.
One of the marketing actions of the place is to offer to the possible clients free samples of the pizzas that will be part of the menu (and of course I won't miss this chance to eat pizzas for free 
).
Is it sound like a good idea for you? Have you ever been to an opening like that?

Never been near enough to one really.
But the idea of free Pizza I do like and a lot.
