As with any disease, knowledge is key. We have so many resources, today, at our fingertips, there is no reason just to accept information obtained from one pamphlet or one physician. Besides, physicians today don't really take a personal interest in their patients. They don't spend much time getting to know their patients, and treating the whole person. Going to the doctor is like jumping on an assembly line and just about all treatments are a one size fits all solution. So it is imperative we educate ourselves.
With diabetes, we need to understand the different types.
1 . Type 1: This type is also known as juvenile diabetes. It has been reported that this type occurs when a virus invades the body and causes the immune system to be attacked and destroyed. This in turn affects the pancreas causing the body's natural insulin to cease from functioning.
2. Type 2: This type is also known as insulin resistance. The pancreas doesn't produce insulin properly and when it does, the body is resistant to it. If not kept under control, it will most likely lead to obesity. It can also lead to organ problems. Most often, this type occurs in adults.
3. Type 3: This occurs when insulin resistance takes place in the brain. Although, researchers do not have all the answers, this has been linked to Alzheimers disease.
It is possible to have both 1 and 2. We use to think my mom was crazy when she told us she had both. Then just 3 years ago, I found out I had both. Guess my mama wasn't so crazy after all. When I was diagnosed with both, my doctor was finally able to help.

I have found that holistic doctors are much more interested in their patients than regular MDs. The latter are too concerned with their bank accounts to really care about their patients.
I did not know that there was a third type of diabetes. Interesting. I also never thought about a person being able to have both types, 1 & 2. I never thought about it before but had I been asked I probably would have said no, you can't have both. It's interesting how some of us become very informed about our problems through researching them. I research everything and have been able to take care of myself and solve any health concerns, for at least the last 15 years, without the help of a doctor...so far. I'm afraid though, that the day will come when I need a medical doctor. Not a happy thought.

Thanks for sharing. I don't want to have a diabetes and I learned here how one can have diabetes. So it's not about eating a lot of sweets and sugar. It's about the pancreas
