I believe in African traditional medicine because it treats from physical to spiritual causes of the illness ,it uses natural elements which are less harmful, there is little or nothing like overdose in it ,it is fast in case of emergency u just need to rush behind your house and get one or two herbs and your OK ,for example using cocoyam stuck to drain out snake poison it is a first aid before u get treatment, also taking a lot of palm oil after taking something poisonous helps in killing the power of the poison .it is great but not withstanding modern mercine is good as well because it is scientific

I use some Asian traditional medicine. Wherever possible, I would rather use natural.

@Eriqueen I use ginger tea if I get a cough from bronchitis. It's very good for that. And I know people who use it when they get colds.

I prefer to use natural remedies for any problems I might have. I had never heard of cocoyam. It's very interesting.

@Eriqueen I find this a very interesting discussion. I wonder if you can tell me if you know anything about African traditional remedies for panic attacks or anxiety. I've tried to find it online but there doesn't seem to be anything on it.

Yes there are some natural remedies that can work just as well as medicine, after all some modern medicines are made from the nature.

I prefer natural/traditional medicine, herbs must have some science behind too. I think it's always better to avoid something artificial unless strictly necessary.

Many traditional medications are a good choice and these are often taught by the older people so that the younger ones can gain benefit from what worked for them.

African traditional medicine really works. I remember a time when I had a stomach ache and after being taken to the hospital, the medicine i was given never helped and I only got worse. My mother boiled some herbs for me and I took it after it had cooled. I got better in two days :)
